A number assigned to each SCSI device connected to a computer. The device with the highest number has priority if a conflict occurs while sending or receiving data. Some devices, such as internal hard disks, have preset SCSI ID numbers. On others, such as external hard disks, you use a SCSI ID switch to set the ID number.
